Birdseye Chili Sugar
Hold on to your hat. This sugar packs a remarkable, bright kick. You can use it in any sort of sweet preparation that lends itself to spiciness: cocktail rims, cookies, brownies, cake frostings, or caramels. A friend of mine loves it in her chai. Pick your method, or, if you aren't sure how, check the Kitchen Imp blog for ideas.
Your sugar comes in a moisture-sealed, screw top tin to keep it fresh. In my recipe for brownies, try substituting 2 teaspoons of the sugar called for with this sugar, or, dust the top of the brownies with this sugar 10 minutes before the cooking time ends.
You may buy your Birdseye Sugar in a 1.5 ounce packet, a 3.5 ounce jar (slightly more than pictured), or a 7 ounce bag.
