Mace, powdered or blades
Mace is a thin shell that covers a nutmeg. It's peeled off and then either used whole or ground and added to baked goods, wine, sauces, and soups.Imagine the smell of nutmeg, but softer and brighter, a little sweeter and fresher. Use it in tandem with nutmeg or alone. Although delicate, you'll find mace's flavor very distinctive, so use it in small quantities.
